I know that the MD was one of the most influential 'documents' of its time(which was 1823)
I also know that James Monroe and John Quincy Adams contributed to the MD to keep Europe and Russia from trying to steal land from USA.(specific examples include: florida, washington state, california.)
Many policies have been modelled after the MD by past presidents.
Also, It said that the "age of colonization" was over. It happened after all of the South American revolutions, including: Mexico, Columbia, Argentina, and I think Venesuela. In addition, one of the things modeled after it was the Roosevelt Corelary.
